Welcome to K5TRO.org, the website for the Mills County Amateur Radio Club of Mills County, Texas.
The idea of us having a real website is still a novelty. We will still be learning what we can do with one for a long time to come. My original vision was of an online membership directory with names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses available only to members. Also it would have an online photo album where we could photographically document each of our club activities. But, I realize that while that would be nice, that wouldn't get enough usage to make it worth the effort it would take to set it up.
A website is similar to a newspaper. It needs to call attention to itself so people will want to turn to it often just to see what is new (and/or news!) People won't turn to an unchanging website and soon it would be forgotten. I hope to provide a venue for active discussion--we certainly have members who enjoy that activity! We will have to decide whether there are any provocative subjects that should be discouraged or disallowed, i.e. politics, religion, exotic cooking...
And what about a swap & shop section? There ought to be at least as many ideas as we have members. Meanwhile I'm checking out a bunch of other ham club websites to see what they found to do.
